The memorial serves as the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the genocide. From here, you will journey to musanze for lunch and later Iby’Iwacu Culture Village. A visit to Iby Iwacu Cultural Village includes a variety of activities including traditional dance and music, learning about traditional medicines and foods. Jour 3:

Seeing mountain gorillas in the wild is a lifetime experience! Today, trek through the park’s dense vegetation. Trekking through dense forest with steep slopes means that participants do need to be physically fit however gorilla trekking groups are assigned on fitness levels, so you can request a shorter or longer hike dependent on your preferences. In a group of 8, you will set off in the jungle and your guides use their experience, knowledge of the gorillas’ habits and information from the previous day to locate them. Once you have found the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend an hour with them. Keep your camera in silence and observe a 10 meters’ distance from the gorillas and keep your mask on at all times. It worth the slight physical discomforts, though, for the reward of a face-to-face encounter with one of the most endangered animals on the planet. Observe their subtle social interactions and remarkable behaviors closely resembling our own. Return to the lodge for lunch and evening at leisure.

What to wear and carry: -Wear long trousers, long sleeve and hiking waterproof boats (to minimize the impact on wildlife, it is recommended to wear shades of green or brown). Carry gloves, a rain jacket, and a camera.

You will often need to follow them as they are often on the move jumping from tree to tree with their long tails which is really entertaining but a little difficult to photograph! Also, you will be reward with a breath of fresh air, spectacular views of green vegetation and some birds of the water shores.
